Event Synopsis

In this highly connected modern world, we face increasing risks to our information and systems due to both external threats and poor design and mismanagement internally. As our lives depend on such systems more and more a lack of appropriate secure design and implementation can potentially cause serious disruption and in some cases even endanger lives.

Information security attempts to address these concerns and has emerged as a serious profession in recent years. The term refers to a wide variety of challenging roles connected with network security, secure programming and implementation, risk management, information assurance and forensic computing in a diverse range of industries such as health, transport, finance, government and defence.

The Wiltshire Branch of the BCS is organising a career day with an 'information security' theme. The event is aimed at young and early career professionals who are new to this field. Interested students who wish to know more about the training opportunities available and want to develop further in this field are also welcome.

The event will be held on a Saturday and provides an excellent opportunity for career guidance and professional networking. Information about relevant academic degrees and professional training by the regional universities and training providers will also be available.
